Being WEiRD has to affect every area of our life, including our family. Sometimes it is the hardest to live out your faith at home because they are the people that know you the most, your guard is down around them
This week we’re going to find out what it means to have a WEiRD family and find out what that requires from you. We’ll be learning from the life of Moses and his siblings Miriam and Aaron.
It’s time to be WEiRD in our families!

The Point: People pleasing is not pleasing to God.

Fun Element: Started off with the Impossible Shot and played a game that showed how impossible it is to please everyone.
Set List: Oh This God, Not To Us, Run
Favorite Moment: We had a student come up on stage and share why they’re weird in their faith. I always love students being able to see how their peers are living out their faith.

Here are your very important announcements for this week:
- CIY Believe - Registration is due ASAP. If you have not gotten your medical release form and $75 to Ryne do it NOW! It is an awesome weekend for all middle school students.
- Chili Cookoff - Enjoy chili? Enjoy different kinds of chili? Our leaders are dishing up some chili before SM tonight. Come enjoy at 5:30 pm and tell us what kind is your favorite!
- Super Bowl Party - We’re just a few weeks away from the biggest game of the year! Sunday, February 5th we will be gathering at the SM Building at 5 pm to watch the game. Drinks are provided, bring a snack to share!

This week we’re talking all about people pleasing. The truth is people pleasing is not pleasing to God. Trying to make people happy is an unattainable goal, that only leads us farther from God. We begin to put our focus on making people happy instead of caring about what God desires from us.
People pleasing is a temptation that all of us face one way or another. Come see what Jesus has to say about it and why it’s weird not to care what people think about you!

Fun Element: We watched this weird video and played a weird version of tricycle races.

Favorite Moment: Kate (my wife) shared about how she is weird. She talked about teaching high school students and making her classroom as a safe place for them to feel protected and open up to her.

Here are your very important announcements for the week:
- CIY Believe - Registration is due TODAY. Get it into Ryne or the church office ASAP. The trip is for middle school students and is $75. (Click here for more info)
- Chili Cookoff - The adult leaders of SM are going to make up some chili and bring it next week. We’ll start serving up at 5:30 PM. We’ll also let you vote for the best cup of chili!
- Theological Breakfast - High school students come to Ryne’s house this Monday for breakfast and the Bible. We’re going to divvy up food at 9 AM and talk about the Kingdom of God.
- Grow Groups - Start back up this Sunday night. Not in one? Contact Ryne or fill out a form at SM this week!

After a great Christmas Break, SM is back this week! We meet Wednesday, January 11th 6:30-7:30 PM.
We are beginning a new series this semester called WEiRD (because normal isn’t working). When we study the person of Jesus we realize that he was weird! If we are going to be his followers, then we’re called to live weird lives also. Being weird means so much than being an outcast or not being accepted, it means that we intentionally live a way that is different from the patterns of this world. We choose to live weird so that we can honor Christ.

Wednesday, January 11th there will be a short meeting for parents. The meeting is 6:00-6:30 PM before we begin SM at 6:30 PM. This meeting will let you know about what is coming up this semester for SM and we will have information for our summer trips.
