It’s summer and you’re already bored, so come end the year of Student Ministries by throwing stuff (…or for the less aggressive, rolling dice). A fun night planned from 6:30-8 PM at the SM Building. This is the last event at the building until Fall. See you there!

Faithful
For the last week of SM service we are talking about being Faithful. Too often we develop the thinking that God needs us to be perfect, to do all the right things and never mess us. The truth is, God wants our hearts. He desires us to pursue Him with all that we are. Of course there are going to be mistakes along the way, we’ll have failures and setbacks, but when we give everything over to...

Trust
The first week of the series Faithful we asked the question, “What makes you run from God?” Last week we talked about our knowledge of God and how a lack of knowledge can lead to disobedience. This week we turn from the head to the heart. Do you trust God with your life? It is one thing to know what God expects of you or what He is calling you to do, but it is very difficult to trust...

Knowledge
Do you know what God intends for you? Last week we saw that disobedience causes distance in our relationship, but distance can also be caused by a lack of knowledge. We cannot fully follow God if we don’t know what He expects of us. This is so much more than just knowing the “big” things in life like who God wants us to marry or where he wants us to live, but being faithful in...

UNfaithful
The book of Hosea is filled with heartbreak. The story of Hosea and his pursuit after his wife Gomer is a hard one to read. The story becomes much harder to swallow when we realize that we treat God the exact same way. In the first week of our series we are going to ask the question, what makes you run from God? What is keeping you from having a true, meaningful relationship with God? Just like...

Hoarders: Drinking & Drugs
In the final week of our series Hoarders we are looking at the topic of Drinking & Drugs. There is no doubt that the temptation for many students starts at a very young age. We will examine some of the myths of drinking and drugs and take a spiritual approach to why we need to avoid drunkenness and the use of drugs. Only God can fulfill us and we will keep in mind the words of Paul from...

Hoarders: Pornography
This week is the tough topic of pornography. It is becoming an epidemic in our culture. Don’t believe me? Look at this. The purpose of pornography is lust and the Bible speaks very strongly against lust. Porn is an unfulfilling shortcut to what we really desire. Looking will never be enough. We need to abstain from the use of pornography and take it seriously as a sin. This happens...

Hoarders: Hate
Hate is a strong and harmful emotion to hold onto. We often trick ourselves into thinking we deserve to hate someone. We hate them because of what they did to us, it’s our natural response to them. Lot’s of things can cause hate… a broken friendship. divorce. abuse. abandonment. When we hate it not only hurts other people, but it also destroys us. Our God is a God of love...

Hoarders: Shame
This week Alicia will be sharing about the struggle of shame. Feelings of shame, whether caused by our bad decisions or the bad decisions of others, can really hinder us in our relationship to God. They make us feel unworthy and distant from God. The truth is that we have a God that sets us free from feelings of shame and doubt. He is a God that gives us more value and meaning than we could ever...

Hoarders Series
This week kicks off a new series in SM called Hoarders. It’s named after the popular TV show about people that obsessively hoard possessions. It’s easy to watch the show and say “How can they live like that?”, yet many of us treat our spiritual lives the same way. We hold onto garbage and junk that we need to let go of. There are painful memories and addictions that God...

Refresh
The final week of our dating series Facebook Official is all about starting over new. We have been talking about what Godly relationships look like, how we need to prepare now for our future relationships. We saw that our relationship with Jesus effects our other relationships. But some people have messed up in the past. They’ve had poor relationships or gone too far physically, so what do...
