This summer we will be offering middle school and high school Bible studies. They will meet on separate nights at the SM Building from 6:30-8 PM. Here is the schedule for the summer:

Middle School meets on Sunday nights:

June 10, 24

July 1, 8, 15, 22

High School meets on Wednesday nights:

June 13, 20, 27

July 11, 18, 25

There will be no programming in August. SM will kick off again in September.

Students should attend for the grade they are entering. Incoming 6th graders and graduated seniors are welcome to join.

It’s summer and you’re already bored, so come end the year of Student Ministries by throwing stuff (…or for the less aggressive, rolling dice). A fun night planned from 6:30-8 PM at the SM Building. This is the last event at the building until Fall. See you there!

For the last week of SM service we are talking about being Faithful. Too often we develop the thinking that God needs us to be perfect, to do all the right things and never mess us. The truth is, God wants our hearts. He desires us to pursue Him with all that we are. Of course there are going to be mistakes along the way, we’ll have failures and setbacks, but when we give everything over to God we are always going the right direction. Join us this week to learn that God wants your hearts and not just your actions.

Fun Elements: We played two games at once! Two students battled in the Frigid Fashion Show, while everyone else played our own version of Draw Something (live on the screen w/ an iPad). Fun! (Also, week 3 with a Toy Box Gang Video).

Favorite Moment: My friend Alan (@ahable), a missionary on campus at U of I, taught for the evening. He had a much different style of teaching that was refreshing.

The first week of the series Faithful we asked the question, “What makes you run from God?” Last week we talked about our knowledge of God and how a lack of knowledge can lead to disobedience. This week we turn from the head to the heart. Do you trust God with your life? It is one thing to know what God expects of you or what He is calling you to do, but it is very difficult to trust His plan for your life. It’s natural to think that we know best for our lives, but we must trust God and give our plans over to Him. Join us this week as we explore Hosea 4.

Do you know what God intends for you? Last week we saw that disobedience causes distance in our relationship, but distance can also be caused by a lack of knowledge. We cannot fully follow God if we don’t know what He expects of us. This is so much more than just knowing the “big” things in life like who God wants us to marry or where he wants us to live, but being faithful in all the little parts too. It is about being the people that God has called us to be, to show His character to the world. Being faithful to God starts with having a knowledge of what He expects of us.

Graduation Sunday May 20th is Graduation Sunday @ FCC. We will recognize seniors in both Sunday morning services. Turn in two pictures to the church office by May 13th to be recognized.

CIY Move High school students, don’t forget to sign up for CIY Move! The trip is July 9-14th and costs $350. Registration is due May 9th. Get stuff here.

Cranks Creek All students (entering 7th-graduating seniors) make sure you sign up for our mission trip! The trip is June 23rd-29th and costs $175. Get stuff here.

BINGO Night Next Wednesday night after service (7:30-8:30 PM) we will be playing BINGO (yes, just like old people) for some sweet prizes. Stay after and have some fun.

The book of Hosea is filled with heartbreak. The story of Hosea and his pursuit after his wife Gomer is a hard one to read. The story becomes much harder to swallow when we realize that we treat God the exact same way. In the first week of our series we are going to ask the question, what makes you run from God? What is keeping you from having a true, meaningful relationship with God? Just like Gomer ran off from Hosea, we often turn our back on God and depart from Him.

Join us over the next four weeks to learn how we can be faithful.

Favorite Moment: We did things differently this week, we were set up in round tables and incorporated discussion throughout the teaching. It was a good change up for the week.

In the final week of our series Hoarders we are looking at the topic of Drinking & Drugs. There is no doubt that the temptation for many students starts at a very young age. We will examine some of the myths of drinking and drugs and take a spiritual approach to why we need to avoid drunkenness and the use of drugs. Only God can fulfill us and we will keep in mind the words of Paul from Philippians 4:19, ”And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”
